Description
For direct coupling of an OPC DA classic server with AX or N4, now are offered the PsOpcUtilities in combination with PsOpcGServer, together building the PsNiagara2Opc driver kit.
Especially if using a Jace for integration this combination is very efficient. The already at Niagara level "standardized" data points, processed possibly via different protocols, can be mapped to OPC using a very fast communication path. OPC clients will have easy access to data points from a big number of protocols.
The kit consists of two parts, one driver running on a Niagara (AX or N4) platform, typically a Jace controller or comparable, and the PC based OPC server. The communication runs via TCP.
Installation and configuration are very simple. After that, just discover Niagara data points with the PsOpcUtilities, select and add them to the Niagara database, export the database (to a CSV file) and lastly import the export file into PsOpcGServer server on the PC. With this tool the connection of thousands of data points is done in the twinkling of an eye.
A sophisticated feature is the automatic generation of often used helper data points, like the point status or for outputs "Override Value" point, while populating the database, and that is done without spending "KRUs".
The OPC server is a generic solution, unique on the market. Generic solution means, the PsOpcGServer is not only able to handle Niagara communication, it is furthermore possible to connect to protocols like M-Bus, SML or EnOcean via gateway programs running directly on the PC level. This fact can be very interesting for those applications using protocols not supported by Niagara.
